OGS Incorporated was founded in Ottawa by Wilfred John Ohlmann and incorporated in 1978. OGS is an Environmental and Geotechnical drilling company. Our equipment consists of truckmounted, trackmounted and portable drilling rigs. Our extensive work experience has taken us to the Arctic Circle, Northwest Territories, Labrador and the most of the northern / southern points in Ontario.

OGS DRILLING SERVICES
Types of Services provided by OGS Inc. in the Ottawa Area & across Canada.
Portable Geotechnical and Environmental Drilling.
Indoor Services (Electric coring rigs) in small spaces with low disturbance factors. The portable drilling equipment can work in areas with a ceiling height of 6’5” to 7’ of clearance (including SPT’s, Diamond casing and bedrock coring).
Portable drilling offers flexibility to access remote locations (embankments and tight fitting areas).
- Lightweight, compact equipment for cost efficient transportation
- Ideal for fly-in situations with bush planes and/or helicopters
- Installation of monitoring wells Portable drilling (offers 1.25” diameter monitoring well installations).
- Truckmounted and trackmounted (offers 1.5” or 2” diameter monitoring well installations).
- Shelby tube samples (3” or 2”), Shear vane testing (BW or NW vanes sizes) and nitrogen packers are optional services provided by OGS Inc. in all instances.
Truckmount / Rubber Trackmounted Geotechnical and Environmental Drilling.
Truckmounted Drills:
Our Truckmount drilling rigs are available for hollow stem augering, air hammer drilling, diamond drilling, split spoon sampling, Shear Vanes (NW or BW Vane), Shelby Tubes (3” Diameter) and coring (NQ or HQ).
Trackmounted Drill:
Our Trackmounted drilling rig (CME 45c on rubber tracks) are available for hollow stem augering, diamond drilling, split spoon sampling, Shear Vanes (NW or BW Vane), Shelby Tubes (3” Diameter) and coring (NQ or HQ).
Portable / Limited Access Drills:
Our Portable drilling rigs are available for diamond drilling, Tripod setup, limited height applications, indoor and outdoor areas, bedrock coring, split spoon sampling (3rd weight or jack hammer for interior locations or tripod setup with a full weight hammer for outdoor locations), Shear Vanes (BW Vane), Shelby Tubes (2” diameter) and coring (NQ or BTW). The portable drilling can also be completed from a 12’x12’ raft setup that can be built onsite, a modified pontoon boat setup or drilling platform for sloped applications.
Accessory Equipment:
OGS Inc. also offers options of accessory equipment for accessing hard to reach locations and equipment to help provide quality workmanship. OGS Inc. can offer ATV and trailer, 6’x12’ Landscape trailers, Snowmobiles and towable sleighs, Pontoon boat, 12’ x 12’ raft platforms, adjustable drilling platforms for slopes with the portable equipment, plate packer and 1000L ICBC water totes.
Arctic Geotechnical and Environmental Drilling.
OGS Inc. developed our own unique system for permafrost drilling that has become the company specialty. In all soil conditions we have recovered undisturbed permafrost cores, with every ice lens intact, split spoon sampling. Individual ice lenses up to one metre thick have been retrieved.
In the High Arctic the diamond drilling method is used.
